Greece or Hellas, is a country of incredible history & tradition, the cradle of democracy in the western civilization, and the birthplace of numerous philosophers, mathematicians, and artists. Nowadays, most people associate Greece with its beautiful beaches and elaborate ancient temples.
Greece is famous for being the birthplace of democracy, the creation of the Olympic Games, and for its unique and historical architecture. Some examples include the Acropolis in Athens, the Sanctuary of Delphi, and the ancient Theatre of Epidaurus.

How to spend a week in Greece
🏛️ Days 1–2: Ancient History in Athens
Thanks to its long history and rich culture, sightseeing is one of the best things to do in Athens! Spend your first 48 hours soaking in the birthplace of democracy.
The Acropolis of Athens, Herodes Atticus Theatre, the temple of Poseidon, the Roman Agora, the Hellenic Parliament and the Neoclassical Trilogy are among the best Athens attractions. Wander the streets of the Plaka neighborhood.
🍇 Days 3–4: Island Charm in Paros or Naxos
On the early morning of day three, take a high-speed ferry from Piraeus Port to the central Cyclades. I highly recommend Paros (for a mix of chic fishing villages and nightlife) or Naxos (for incredible food, ancient ruins, and massive sandy beaches).
Rent a scooter or an ATV for these two days. It’s the absolute best and most liberating way to explore the islands on your own.
🌅 Days 5–7: Explore Santorini or Mykonos
When choosing between Santorini and Mykonos, the decision comes down to the exact vibe you want for your vacation. Santorini is built for romance, dramatic landscapes, and jaw-dropping views, while Mykonos is the ultimate destination for luxury beach clubs, vibrant nightlife, and a chic culinary scene.
If this is your very first time in Greece, most travelers find Santorini to be the more unique, irreplaceable experience because of its geography. However, if your dream vacation involves lounging on a sunbed with a cocktail, listening to a DJ, and swimming in pristine water, Mykonos is your perfect match.
